about

Composed by Jean-Michel Jarre. Originally released on Oxygène (Disques Dreyfus, 1976)

JMJ is an easy reference point and "gateway drug" into the world of synthesizer-based electronic music. My idea here of course was to do a well-known synthesizer piece without using any synths. What did I learn? If you can't use a synth, a single-coil pickup through a wah pedal into a high-gain amp will give you that essential white noise filter sweep.
